Staff and Project-level Geotechnical Engineers

Foundation Engineering, Inc. is seeking staff and project-level engineers who are enthusiastic about the art, science, and business of geotechnical engineering. Successful candidates who will thrive in this position will be highly motivated and energetic. They will need to be able to apply their understanding of soil and rock and mechanics to practical, cost-effective, geotechnical engineering design, and convey that information to our clients through effective communication and report writing.

Position requirements include:

  • MS or Ph.D degree with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering.
  • Project Engineers must be a registered Professional Engineer in Oregon or have the ability to apply for reciprocity based on registration in another state.
  • Staff Engineers must have their FE certificate and have the ability to become registered in Oregon within three years.
  • Up to 5 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience (level of experience will depend on the position).
  • Ability to apply an understanding of soil and rock mechanics to practical, cost-effective geotechnical engineering design.
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills, with a track record of successful communication with clients, contractors and other engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to produce well-organized, clear, complete, and concise technical reports that meet the client’s needs. Candidates will be expected to submit original writing samples for oral review.
  • Traveling for field work. Work will take you to remote areas, sometimes occur in adverse weather conditions, and will require lifting loads of up to 60 lbs.
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license and a good driving record.
