DESCRIPTION:  A new footbridge is planned to replace an existing walking path in the Timberhill Natural Area east of the end of 29ᵗʰ Street in Corvallis, Oregon. The wood frame bridge will be 20 feet long and 5 feet wide, supported on end abutments and an interior bent. Plans provided for the new structure indicate that the foundations will include a minimum embedment of 12 inches below the lowest adjacent grade to the new foundations and were designed using an allowable bearing pressure of 1,500 psf for the shallow foundations.

SERVICE:  Foundation Engineering, Inc. conducted a subsurface investigation, laboratory testing, analysis, and an engineering memorandum. The memorandum included a description of our work, a discussion of the site and subsurface conditions. It also included recommendations for site preparation and the design and construction of foundations.
